Ah, to be a pet parent!

Back in October (2024) I adopted an adorable kitten, Liara. She is an absolute nightmare, but I would not have it any other way. She has grown close to her brothers and sister (two dogs and another cat). Though, her cat brother, Garrus, is a little less excited about her. Where she wants to play, he wants to avoid her. Their dynamic is fun to watch. Garrus is not aggressive, but acts like an annoyed older brother to a sibling that follows him around. There are moments of absolute insanity between the two, and moments where they are the cutest freaking things ever. The former happens more often than the latter.

Liara always operates at 100%, especially around 3 a.m. My sleep schedule a chaotic mess because of it. I hoped she would calm after being spayed… Instead, her need for attention increased. Liara demands attention by jumping in your lap or howling in another room. In a bold move, Liara has decided she likes to climb on everything. The other day, Liara tried to climb the railing along the stairs! Claw marks stain the railing where she slid down, unable to climb up.

My dogs, Morrigan and Alistair, have taken to her in their own ways. Morrigan, ever the mama dog, lets Liara cuddle with her. However, the moment Liara tries to do anything more, Morrigan shuts her down with a huff and a growl. Alistair, bless his silly heart, does not know what to do with Liara. Like Garrus, Liara has taken to playing with him, regardless of his own desires. She jumps on him. Hides behind things to jump out at him. In short, Liara tries to throw paws with Alistair—a feat that confuses Alistair to no ends. He is a Great Dane! He is 100x larger than her! He is gentle with her most of the time… He has sat on her without realizing it more often than I’d like to admit.

I love my pups and cats. They are the bright spot on the long and stressful days.
